Three men with alleged ties to organized crime are killed in Dorchester.

Herbert “Smitty” Smith and two other people are shot and killed in Smith’s car on Normandy Street. Smith is the manager of the Basic Street South Club in Roxbury. John Matarano later confesses to the murders as being among the more than 20 he committed during his career as a hitman for organized crime.
